Lunges are a very beneficial exercise to have in a workout routine. Although, there are a wide variety of movements that can be performed within this exercise, there is also the option to add weight. The Weighted Twist Lunge is not only going to add weight to strengthen the legs, but will also engage the core muscles into the exercise. This can be done with a plate weight held close to the body while performing a standard walking lunge. Simply twist the torso bringing the elbow to opposite side knee while lowering into the lunge position, and returning to the forward facing position when standing. This same exercise can also be done with a medicine ball, or a lighter weight with the arms extended away from the body for additional strengthening options.
